Valkyria Chronicles - The Principality of Gallia
The Valkyria Chronicles fandom has had an interesting journey over the years, since the first game’s release in 2008. Back then, there wasn’t much activity in the fandom, especially compared to some of the more mainstream franchises. The game, beloved by those who experienced it, didn’t have the mass following that other RPGs or tactical games had, so fan spaces were somewhat limited.
However, one corner of the fanbase that stood out was the Principality of Gallia Tumblr blog, which was a notable hub for some great artwork from the world of Valkyria Chronicles. This blog shared fan art, official illustrations, and anything else related to the franchise. It was one of the few places that celebrated the franchise in such a dedicated manner back in those days.
Unfortunately, the blog has since become inactive, with the last post dating back over 12 years ago (Valkyria Chronicles 4 was released 7 years ago). Despite that, it remains a valuable snapshot of the Valkyria Chronicles fandom at its peak during the PS3-era, at a time when the internet wasn’t quite as filled with the organized communities we see today. It’s a reminder of how fandoms can grow, evolve, and sometimes fade, but they leave behind treasured pieces of history, like this blog, that capture a moment in time.
While Discord and other platforms may have taken the place of those early fan sites today, it’s fascinating to see how dedicated spaces like The Principality of Gallia helped keep the love for Valkyria Chronicles alive.
