Category: Site Updates

So over the past I have been trying to track down what’s been causing some issues when uploading images directly via WordPress and a 3rd party Blogging software client I use, Mars Edit. Although I haven’t quite tracked down the exact cause I have a strong feeling that my database was corrupted somehow.

Over the past week I have done some manual restoration, making use of my SQL know how and programming skills to completely restore all my old posts and comments.

It looks like the blog is fully operational again, hopefully for many long months and years down the road.

Now that this is out of the way and I can upload images using Mars Edit I can look forward to writing more and worrying less about the internals of this blog.

So for all 5 of you that actually read my blog you’ll have noticed that I haven’t really updated this blog in a little over a month. In between work, trying to improve my skill set and finding time to relax and do stuff, I haven’t had much time to devote to this blog.

I am hoping to play copycat to my good friend from my days at York University, Enrico, who dedicated an entire month to writing on his blog discussing all sorts of topics, and write on this blog for the next 31 days until January 14th, 2011. By then I am hoping to finally complete my critique of Valkyria Chronicles 2, something which I have been postponing for months now.

To usher in this new era of writing on this blog I have also decided to incorporate a rating scheme for reviews that I will write. Seeing as how I am a big fan of Valkyria Chronicles, I’ve adopted a ranking system from 1 to 5 (1 – being awful, 5 – being awesome) in which each rating will be represented by Alicia Melchiott from Valkyria Chronicles 1! So a few days ago my web host hit a bit of a snag and my website went down for a bit. Once I got access to it again I went about restoring my old posts (which you will note now include a note about the date the post was published).

Luckily I had a backup of my posts on my PC and went about re-posting things. The whole experience taught me to make sure from here on out I keep a backup handy just in case anything does happen in the future.

Regardless I am happy to have the site back up and I am raring to go since there has been a lot I wanted to post about (Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Bayonetta, Nostalgia, Final Fantasy XIII, Policenauts and Snatcher).

It’s been a while since I have last updated my blog, I’ve been busy and currently don’t have my macbook handy (I lent it to a family member overseas). As of late I’ve had more time on my hands so I am hoping to finally get that Valkyria Chronicles review out as well as a few more other articles and other minor updates.

MioI’ve been a bit busy recently. I’ve been developing a website for a small business, for a family friend, which is sort of a first for me since I never really have made any websites for businesses. Hopefully the experience will teach me a thing or two that will help with developing my own business’ website.

Not sure if this is sour grapes, but is there anything remotely like Dreamweaver for Mac that isn’t actually Adobe Dreamweaver? I’ve tried out a few alternatives but they seem to be sort of like iWeb in that I am unable to directly edit an HTML file I made elsewhere.

I just wanted to post up a note, since it’s been a while since I last made a post, that I am a bit behind on things and haven’t had the chance to post up that Linux review yet. I am hoping to have it up in the next few days.

So, I’m a bit behind, I had promised to have a few new articles up but time is being fickle with me as I am preparing to apply for a different program at the post-secondary level. Hopefully things work out or at least I can find something to be motivated about.

My years in Computer Science were a waste in some respects. I managed to graduate but I am pretty clueless about programming in general and quite a few of the concepts I just don’t get, even after reading it a few times. I’ve come to realization that maybe Computer Science is just not something I see myself doing for the rest of my life. It’s a bit sad to say but I am a bit jealous of a few colleagues of mine, who graduated from the same alma mater, and how they are proceeding in their careers and genuinely are interested in what they are doing and learning.

I’ve been trying to learn Objective C as I have become pretty fond of Apple and their products, but my motivation sorta is like when someone is on a sugar high. (more…)

Welcome ladies and gentlemen. To those of you that know me I need no introduction, but for those that don’t, my name is Dean, otherwise known by my online handle BOZZ/BOZZY.

Currently I’m a forum moderator at Initial D World Forums and an aspiring entrepreneur and software developer in Toronto.

The purpose of this blog is… well, there is maybe more than 1 purpose? My intent is to write up reviews, articles, maybe news articles even regarding things that interest me from the world of technology, politics and sports as well as my journey towards learning Objective C and Cocoa Touch for iPhone development, which I intend to get involved with under a small business I recently started. I hope that in the process of writing these blog entries that I can provide my readers with entertaining and engaging articles and hope that you will keep coming back for more.
